Christ in the Wilderness
A recovery of ancient awareness that Creation is a grand witness to the Creator, this teaching method is described in the writings of the fathers and many saints.
- Wilderness Setting - allows program to transpire in a clean and quiet natural setting away from distractions of the city and other campers.
- Prayer for Participants - is offered by facilitator, together with participating clergy, to pray participants “up” into spiritual experience.
- Strict Monastic Protocol - ensures negativity and criticisms are banned from the program; facilitator, as moderator, enforces this requirement.
- Group Process - allows each person to express his or her insights from experience in the program process.
- Spiritual Exercises - are based upon the acquisition of the virtues as aspects of Jesus Christ in human attitudes.
- Patristic Assumption of Spiritual Formation - affirms stages of spiritual growth and discipline on the “Ladder of Divine Ascent”.
- Group Discipline - requires everyone participate in matins and vespers plus tend to their assigned camp duties.
